One of the most interesting things I’ve ever talked about in class was when we discussed Geo-Fencing. It made me think about how we can allow this. This is an absolute total invasion of privacy and actually really creepy. Yet, it’s legal to do this in our country.

It leads me to think about our privacy settings and what we allow our phones and outside sources to do to our phones without even thinking about it. A long time ago it was “going viral” that people were hacking into your laptop webcams and spying on people through their own computers without their knowledge. Do we think that we could be saying yes to allowing people to spy into our cameras? What are the privacy settings that we are agreeing to?

We are all absolutely 100% guilty of just clicking ‘Agree’ when given the privacy settings. We are too lazy to read through, and let’s be honest most of the companies try to hide or word a sentence a certain way to make people read it the wrong way anyway.

So with all of this in mind, one of my favorite YouTubers Shane Dawson posted a conspiracy theory video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pn-Kxynk5cU), which is one of his specialties, but this one had to do with privacy. He talked about how easy it is to hide cameras around private rooms, and not having the people in the room actually know it’s there.

In specifics he talked about how Airbnb can have cameras in their houses, but they have to be disclosed that there are cameras in the house, but they don’t necessarily have to tell you exactly where they are. This got me thinking, when you are renting an Airbnb are people going to be reading the fine print and finding out that these houses have cameras in them? Just as people normally would they probably skip right over it and are being recorded without even knowing. The world is spooky, and this is just the beginning!
